Potter’s Wheel

Missions Training 201
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” – Jesus
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…” – Jesus
PW Mission Statement: To offer a community atmosphere, alongside long- term missionaries, for discipleship and hands-on training in foreign missions in order to give believers a foundation in God’s word and knowledge of God’s mission to this world. In this we stand in partnership with – and as a voice to – the global body of Christ in order to share in the biblical commission to develop disciples with a missional life.
“In short – Potter’s Wheel is an intensive six-month training school located outside of Quito, Ecuador, designed to train up missionaries and to give a foundation in God’s Word (the Bible) and God’s mission to this world” Sandi Youngren, PW Facilitator

Strengths of the Program
Mentoring Approach – Mentoring is an important asset to the learning and discipleship process. PW students are personally mentored by the staff of Compassion Connection.
Academics – To give the student information, skills, and tools that prepare and equip them to live as disciples with a mission.
Hands-on Training – The ability to apply what is learned through the context of local outreach and ministry. What is learned in the classroom is then immediately observed and put into practice on the field.
Community Living – Living in community challenges the mindset of living to please one’s self. The struggles and triumphs of living closely in community make us aware of our individual need for and responsibility to the Body of Christ.
“Potter’s Wheel is a time of learning and growing in the ways that every Christian is biblically instructed to. The setting is intimate, the classes are challenging, the missional training is intentional, providing opportunities to sharpen cultural understanding and to broaden one’s world view. The discipleship is cause for much honesty and introspection, and living in an atmosphere of community intensifies the need for the centrality of Christ in the lives of believers.”

Students depart as missionaries who know what it means to live a missional life that is grounded in the word of God. Students also leave with the challenge to be a supportive and effective member of the body of Christ whether living in their home country or living in a foreign one.
