“Enter, you who are blessd by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. And here’s why: I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and yo gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me.” Matthew 25:34-36

The Matthew 25 Fund has been established to help with the constant connection to those around us who are in need of clothing, medical help, and food in Ecuador.

Medical Needs : Compassion Connection has great confidence in the HCJB hospitals both in Shell Mera as well as the hospital in Quito. These are missions hospitals that have served the people here for years and  give great discounts to the indigenous peoples of the region. It is common for the people here to suffer endlessly and even die from ailments that are easily cured with the right medical attention.  As we are made aware of situations in which a small amount of money can literally change a life and even save a life, we hope that you will consider partnering with us to make funds available to our staff to use at their discretion as they build relationships with those who are suffering.  In this way we are able to show the love of Christ by meeting physical needs.

Food: The ability to serve those around us with nutritious food supplies is always a blessing.  We make a point to take “care packages” to those we know of that are in need of food.  Staples like fruit and vegetables, rice, bread, flour and sugar are always appreciated and valued.  We believe that this simple act of kindness and care is part of what Jesus refers to in Matthew 25.

Clothing: Whether through donated clothing or funds to purchase clothing at a discount, the opportunity to help clothe families is a constant need.  Used clothing is given to needy families to either use for themselves or to sell in order to purchase food and medical help.

As we build relationships with those in our neighborhood and in the areas we serve in the Napo region, the needs can be overwhelming.  As we pray continually for direction in how to help individuals and families, our hope is that you would partner with us by donated funds that would be available to meet these needs as they arise.

“There is a woman that supports her family by cutting hair.  When I was there having my hair cut, she began to tell me about the pain she is having in her stomach.  She has been suffering with it for quite some time.  I asked if she had gone to see a doctor.  “On, no!” she replied, “That is too expensive.  I went to the pharmacist instead.  He gives free advise.  He told me to take aspirin and it would probably go away.  I took the aspirin and it got worse.  Now I can’t sleep at night, I am in so much pain!”  I told her that she could go to a good hospital in Quito for only $10 for a consultation with a doctor.  Again, she looked horrified and let me know that she could never afford such an extravagance.  We prayed for her.  We also made an appointment for her and took her in, paying the $10.  After her examination the doctor prescribed medication for her quite serious condition and a week later she was feeling great!  Only $10 and a trip to Quito to resolve a problem that, if left unchecked, could have cost her her life. How sobering.”
