PW 2009: Week One
by Rachel Jacob
Hey Everyone, Potter’s Wheel has officially started! It is so exciting to be here and every day is a new adventure. Beyond learning about our new house rules and schedules, we’ve learned so much about Ecuadorian culture and the neighborhood around us. In fact, Sandi has already sent us on a scavenger hunt though the neighborhood finding people and locations; Greg even had to get a hair cut from a lady on our street. I felt really silly walking around this a list and asking our new neighbors random questions. But it was so rewarding because we learned so much about our neighbors and what life is like here in Ecuador.
One of my favorite things about this new home is that people are constantly coming and going. You can never be short on friends in an atmosphere such as this one. Whether it’s dinner, a hangout, or an errand, there is always someone stopping by. When I see the hospitality and love of the people here (Ecuadorian and American), I see Jesus shining out of them. I’ve learned so much already by just observing my “family” here and I feel truly blessed to be able to be a part of it.

Hey Rachel!
So glad that you're actually doing Potter's Wheel! WOW! HOW AWESOME!!! Get ready to have your life changed forever! It blesses me so much that you are there now. It's been years since I went through PW myself…but God has shaped my life so much by the things I learned and experienced. So get ready for a life-changing experience! (Oh yeah, and by the way, get used to "feeling silly" as you said in your blog…that's all part of it and you will see very soon how God will use that to keep you humble and teachable — it's really the only way He can use any of us!)
Again, I'm so glad that you stepped out in faith to be there! Sara and I will be praying for you for sure!
Take care,
Gabe

Rach,
We miss you tremendously @ The Pier! We pray for you each Wednesday with the group and the others you are with. May He continue to work in and through you. You are a true blessing to the people that are honored to experience you! You are our little missionary and we are extremely proud!
