Day 1 in the Jungle…following God’s lead and not our own
It’s a good thing we talk a lot about being flexible during the Boot Camp training. Our plan for day 1 in the jungle was to get to know the people in the village by organizing a kid’s outreach and maybe clearing off some property. God’s plan was that we join them in their big day of catching fish. Yes, fish. In a river. With our bare hands.
We helped to build a make shift dam that would keep the fish in one area. Then we watched as they put something in the water to temporarily sedate the fish a bit. Then we joined in the sport of catching fish…lots of fish. There were nets, spears, and bare hands going wild as we helped to accomplish the day’s task of fishing…village style.
What a great day! God’s plan was so much better than ours. Day 1 in the jungle village opened the door to relationship quicker than anything we could have planned. Now we can go forward planting seeds of the gospel to a people who might trust us a bit more because we became learners and let them teach us something their way first.
Keep praying…we are humbled as God leads!

Wow I love to fish but never done it that way what a neat thing to be able to do. Yes I can see where that would bring the two groups together. Praying for you every day. Miss you

WOW! I love to fish; however, have never had the opportunity that my daughter is getting. God is moving mountains for you all! The fish stories you will have, are going to be the best.
I am sure the blessing this day gave you will be one to cherish for your adventure.
I am curious about what kind of fish you were catching in that area too?
Take care and continue to be blessed!
Love to all and for my daughter!

God has you on quite the adventure! How awesome to learn from the villagers. In fact, I’m trying to wrap my mind around everything you’ve been going through while I’m here in my cushy little house. =) I’m quite positive it’s Wade and Preston’s dream come true. Wish I was there. (Sometimes.) =) Seriously though, I love what God is doing for and through this Brodhead team. Love you all!
